The $64,000 question is..."How do you stay anchored in faith when your personal dreams feel delayed?"
After a long day of errands and traveling through heavy traffic, I fell into bed exhausted, tears silently running down my face. It hit me — I had spent the entire week handling errands for everyone else, yet not one item from my own time-sensitive list was touched. I felt a wave of frustration and helplessness. This was a season of caring for aging loved ones, and while I knew it was a God-ordained assignment, I struggled with the tension of feeling there was no energy or time capacity left to fulfill the things God had originally inspired me to do. In that moment, I was reminded that seasons are necessary — and they are not forever.
The beauty of life is wrapped in the rhythm of seasons. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens." Sometimes, we celebrate new beginnings; other times, we endure hard endings. There is a time to plant, a time to harvest, and even a time to be still. God’s timing is not bound by our calendars or expectations. As my mentor, Dr. Myles Munroe once said, "The greatest tragedy in life is not death, but a life without purpose." Our confidence must be in the God who orchestrates the seasons with purpose — and calls us to trust His timing, not our own.
Romans 11:29 declares, "For God's gifts and His call are irrevocable." This means that no matter how much time passes, no matter the mistakes we make, or the doubts we harbor, God’s calling on our lives remains unchanged. He doesn’t revoke His grace or change His mind. Hebrews 13:8 assures us that "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Christine Caine powerfully reminds us, "God is preparing you for what He has prepared for you." Even when we cannot see it, He is faithfully working within us to will and to do His good pleasure. Our assignment is not fragile or forgotten— it is firmly rooted in the unchanging character of God.
Seasons come and seasons go, and God knows HOW to keep you on course despite delays, disappointments or life deviations.
The stories of Elizabeth and Sarah beautifully illustrate how God’s promises are fulfilled in His appointed time. Elizabeth, though advanced in years, was chosen to bear John the Baptist, a forerunner of Christ (Luke 1:5-25). Sarah, too, laughed in disbelief at God's promise (Genesis 18:10-15), but God responded, "Is anything too hard for the Lord?" (Genesis 18:14). Both women initially wrestled with doubt but ultimately witnessed the miraculous. Hebrews 11:11 records that Sarah conceived by faith because she considered God faithful. Just like Elizabeth and Sarah, we must trust that delay is not denial. God's Word never fails.
When the waiting stretches long, it is easy to grow weary. That’s why Habakkuk 2:2 encourages us, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it." Writing out what God has spoken over your life keeps your heart anchored during long seasons of preparation. So, I re-read my journal notes to refocus my heart and mind. Joyce Meyer teaches, "Courage is fear that has said its prayers and decided to go forward anyway." In seasons of uncertainty, journaling the promises of God keeps your faith active and your vision alive, reminding you that nothing — absolutely nothing — is too hard for Him.
Despite the challenge of an unforeseen season---I encourage you to exhale and let us pray for a fresh wind of the Holy Spirit to breathe on our dreams, our assignments, and our hearts.
After a good nap, with God's grace, I was refreshed to address the items on my personal list!
Be encouraged my friend...
I pray, Father, we trust Your timing and Your faithfulness. Ignite a fresh hope within us. Strengthen our hands for the work You've ordained. Remind us that the gifts and callings You have placed within us are irrevocable — and You will bring them to completion in Your perfect time.
Amen.
